The county council's recycling and household waste site at Barwell is temporarily closing from Sunday (2 June) so that essential site maintenance and fencing work can be carried out.
The Stapleton Lane site is expected to be closed for around three weeks, with a re-opening date of Saturday, 22 June.

A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is to be made for the following location: Lychgate Lane, Burbage and Lychgate Lane, Aston Flamville (see attached plan). The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Leicestershire County Council to facilitate carriageway patching and any other associated work to the highway.

THE public toilets in Station Road, Hinckley will be closed for two weeks later this month to allow for essential maintenance and refurbishment works to be carried out.
They will be closed on Sunday 26 May and reopen on Monday 10 June so the entire facility can be refurbished and refitted. The value of the works is in excess of £7,000.

Organisers of the first Burbage Scarecrow Festival, held during the May bank holiday weekend, say the event was a 'wonderful' success.
Dozens of villagers, including schoolchildren and business people, entered home-made scarecrows which were displayed for visitors to view and to vote for their favourites.

HINCKLEY HERO Ben Yates has been presented with a Community Award by the Mayor for jumping into a lock to save a five year old girl.
Ben came to the girl's aid while on a family day out at Foxton Locks after hearing a scream.
Ben, managed to reach the girl and, with the aid of others, pulled her safely to the side. The girl has since made a full recovery.
