Hinckley Town Tennis Club Open Day and 24 hour “Tennisathon”

It has been an amazingly successful year for Hinckley Town Tennis Club. In the recent County Awards, they scooped 9 county league awards and were runner up in the Club of the Year. The highlight was Head Coach, Chris Bint, securing the, much coveted, title of Leicestershire Coach of the Year. This has all been achieved with four outdoor courts, an old and rickety clubhouse and a lot of work by the Coaches and Volunteers at the Club.

Not content to rest on his laurels, Chris and his assistant coach, Jack Ganley, will be playing for 24 hours straight from 12.30 on Saturday 6th May to 12.30 on Sunday 7th May taking on club members to raise funds for much needed club improvements. The club will be running a whole host of fund raising events alongside the Tennisathon with everyone from tots to teens to veterans getting involved in a variety of tennis challenges during the largest fund raising event the Club have attempted.

As the 24 hour marathon tennis session concludes, the Club will be holding their Open Day from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 7th May and are keen for anyone who is interested in tennis to come along and have a go. There will be a Family Court and one court will be set up so you can compete with the ball machine and plenty of tennis related activities for all ages. There will also be a barbeque, raffle, tombola and cake stand. So, do come along and enjoy an afternoon at Hinckley Town Tennis Club.

The club have also enjoyed success at Junior level. The under 9 team won the highest division of the winter league with a member of that team also becoming the County under 9 Girls Champion. The club also had a runner up in the under 14 county final and a further young member has represented the Midlands in his age group. Several of the teenage players are regularly helping out and gaining their coaching qualifications as soon as they are of age. One of the regular young coaches has been in Australia since September, working as a level 2 coach at the grand age of 18. Saturday mornings are extremely busy with children of all ages and abilities playing tennis.

But there's always room for more and the Club are keen to attract more junior members. They will be running a free 6 week Tennis for Kids course for children aged 6 to 8 years commencing on Tuesday 2nd May and concluding on Tuesday 6th June. Sessions are from 17.30 to 18.30. Sign up online on clubspark.lta.org.uk or contact Chris Bint on 07843 935481. Get in touch soon as places are filling up fast.
