Mayor to attend carols around the tree

The mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Cllr Jan Kirby and her consort, Mr Mike Kirby are to be guests of honour at this year's carols around the tree event.

The festive gathering around the Coronation Tree in the village centre is to be held on Friday December 21st at 7pm and will be an opportunity to make donations to the mayor's chosen charities, Hinckley Homeless Group and Dementia Action Alliance.

Parishioners are invited to attend the outdoor service, to be led by Father Andrew Hall of St Catherine's Church, and communal carol singing.

Hinckley Homeless Group runs Lawrence House in Hinckley, which provides supported accommodation for up to 12 homeless 16 to 25 year olds from across the borough.

Dementia Action Alliance is a coalition of national organisations which works to share best practice in dementia care and campaigns for change to health and social care services for people living with dementia.

To accommodate the event, road closures will be in force on sections of Hinckley Road and Church Street between 6pm and 9pm.
