Have your say on how the NHS should change in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

Independent health and care champions Healthwatch Leicester, Healthwatch Leicestershire and Healthwatch Rutland are launching a 'What would you do?' campaign to encourage people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) to share their views about what local NHS services should look like.

Our new campaign aims to encourage people to share their views about how extra money from the Government should be spent on local NHS services.

The Government is investing £20 billion a year in the NHS as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. Local organisations are now being asked to explore how services should change locally to make the NHS work better for people.

We want to hear from local people about what works, what doesn't work and how people think local health services should be improved.

Micheal Smith, Manager of Healthwatch Leicester and Healthwatch Leicestershire, said: "We know that the NHS only works when people's voices are heard. This is a once in a generation chance for local people to help decide where this extra money from Government should be spent in our NHS services in LLR.

"We want to hear from as many people, groups and communities as possible to ensure the local plans reflect the needs of our population. We want to hear about what works, what doesn't and how people think local health services should be improved. No matter how big or small the issue, we want to hear about it. Sharing your experience with us is quick and easy - and could make a big difference."

Tracey Allan-Jones, Manager of Healthwatch Rutland, said: "The NHS Long Term Plan sets out ambitions for ensuring that the NHS is fit for the future over the next ten years and describes what health services can do better for people across the country. Our Healthwatch "What would you do?" campaign will help to shape what changes should look like locally in our communities in LLR to achieve those ambitions.

"Patients are experts on how it feels to receive care from the NHS and you all have your individual stories. By sharing them with us using the surveys and other events, you can make your voice heard."

Online Surveys

Share your views with Healthwatch LLR and help make care better. There are two public surveys to capture your views and you can fill in one or both of them. 1. What would you do to give people more control over their care?

https://www.healthwatch.co.uk/what-would-you-do-general

Tell us what your local NHS can do to help you and your community stay well and provide better support.

2. What would you do to give people better support?

https://www.healthwatch.co.uk/tell-us-what-would-you-do

Select and share your experience of care for specific conditions such as heart and lung disease, cancer, dementia, learning disability, diabetes, arthritis, mental ill-health, autism and so on. Your local NHS needs to hear from you about how it can provide better care for people living with these conditions.

We will also be holding engagement events and focus groups across LLR. Details of these activities will be found at www.healthwatchll.com and www.healthwatchrutland.co.uk in due course.
