Burbage crime update from PCSO Darren Stretton
Attempt theft of a van on Woodland Avenue between 23:30 on 22/06/2020 and 00:10 on 23/06/2020. It is believed a Red Renault Megane was involved. Luckily the suspects were disturbed and left the scene without incident. If you have any CCTV that shows a vehicle registration please get in touch quoting 20*318189. Please let this be a reminder if you have a van, do not leave tools in it and try and leave in in a well-lit area. Also try to block in with another vehicle or back-up against a wall/bush to make it harder for criminals to access.
Fires in garden
I have spoken to residents regarding small fires in gardens. This is an ongoing issue. Please see the below links for guidance and how to report a complaint. Please consider other residents when lighting fires. These fires will cause increased problems to People who have breathing difficulties. Local tips are now open so please get rid of rubbish there, especially during this hot, humid weather.

Over the last few weeks we have seen an increase in reports of Nitrous Oxide Canisters being dumped/used in the area. Young adults are using these as a drug. Please see link for more information about them https://www.talktofrank.com/drug/nitrous-oxide#how-it-looks-tastes-and-smells.
We are patrolling areas such as Smithy lane, all parks and car parks and Wolvey road. We have already visited and dealt with several youths regarding this. If you have any information such as vehicle registrations please let us know. It is extremely dangerous to be driving whilst under the influence and using this as a drug can have deadly consequences. We will continue to patrol and challenge this behaviour.
Please continue to monitor COVID-19 guidelines https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
