As the evenings start to draw in, Leicestershire Police are reminding people to ensure their homes look occupied during the darker nights.
The force traditionally sees a seasonal rise in burglaries around the time the clocks go back, with offences often rising through December and January.

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is working with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to contact businesses in the borough to make sure they are COVID-19 secure and to help tackle coronavirus in the area.

TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth and long-serving Earl Shilton councillor who has died aged 88.
Denis Bown served as a Labour councillor for Earl Shilton ward for a total of 34 years in three terms between 1962 and 2007 and was Mayor twice – in 1974-76 and again in 1999-2000.

We have received four reports of theft or attempt thefts from vans.
These reported incidents have been around Church Street, Woodland Avenue, Burbage Road and Woodbank.
It is believed these incidents have happened in the early hours of the morning and investigations continue to try and identify those involved.

Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order on Hinckley Road, Sapcote, and Sapcote Road, Hinckley, from the junction with Aston Flamville Road to the junction with the M69 over-bridge for 5 nights between the hours of 8pm and 6am, beginning on October 12.

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is extremely concerned to hear the news that Cineworld, one of the biggest cinema operators in the world, is temporarily closing all of its UK cinemas from Thursday, 8 October.
The Hinckley Cineworld cinema takes pride of place in The Crescent, the multi-million pound town centre mixed retail and leisure redevelopment scheme which opened in December 2015.

Over the last few days there have been several incidents of theft from vehicles in Burbage and also a theft of a catalytic converter.

Thefts from motor vehicles include two reports from Sapcote Road and Coventry road on the night of the 26th September. It does not appear that any damage was caused on entrance to the vehicles. These appear to be opportunistic thefts.
