Burbage Village Crier appointed for Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Brookside resident Russell Kew has been appointed Burbage Village Crier, to announce a weekend of Jubilee festivities across the parish, including the lighting of a commemorative beacon at Far Lash on June 2 and a Big Jubilee Lunch street party on Church Street on June 5.

He was chosen for the prestigious position following a competitive cry-off held at Britannia Road recreation ground, which was judged by Parish Councillors Dawn Glenville and Barry Walker, together with Danny Banks of Toastmasters International.

Mr Kew, who runs Burbage Airport Taxis, says he is "delighted and honoured" to take on the role.
